Micro-plastics have even been found nearly every corner of the globe, as well as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2022\/mar\/24\/microplastics-found-in-human-blood-for-first-time\">human bodies<\/a>, potentially exposing people to harmful impacts.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This problem is only going to get worse if we don\u2019t do something about it.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plastic packaging from e-commerce is estimated to double by <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/3775185-amazons-plastic-waste-increased-by-18-percent-in-2021\/\">2027<\/a>.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To tackle this growing problem, we\u2019re calling on Amazon to eliminate single-use plastic packaging in their shipments.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We know this is possible because Amazon has already committed to stop using single-use plastic in shipments within <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/business-europe-environment-and-nature-environment-germany-cac1e70d872232b0a28b56f1a0242b21\">Germany<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/09\/04\/business\/amazon-india-single-use-plastic\/index.html\">India<\/a>, and recyclable and biodegradable packaging alternatives are available now. <\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But to get them to act, we need to show Amazon overwhelming support from the public. That\u2019s why on Monday we delivered 97,000 petition signatures from our members and other supporters.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We also handed out Valentine\u2019s to Amazon employees and encouraged them to \u201cshow love for our planet and break up with plastic.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amazon has yet to act, so we\u2019ll keep up the momentum and continue showing them support from the public.
