Air quality continues to be one of the biggest challenges facing Colorado residents, especially those along the Front Range who are living or working in one of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/green-book\/ozone-designation-and-classification-information#:~:text=Nonattainment%3A%20Any%20area%20that%20does,quality%20standard%20for%20a%20NAAQS.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">non-attainment areas<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with higher levels of ozone and particle pollution. In fact, both Jefferson and Douglas counties rank in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lung.org\/research\/sota\/key-findings\/most-polluted-places\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">top 25 most polluted counties<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> nationally for ozone, and Denver-Aurora was the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lung.org\/research\/sota\/city-rankings\/most-polluted-cities\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7th most polluted city<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> nationally for ozone.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ozone has various <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/ground-level-ozone-pollution\/health-effects-ozone-pollution\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">negative health impacts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including inflaming and damaging airways and making the lungs more susceptible to infection, as well as causing coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. In 2023, Colorado is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2022\/11\/28\/electric-vehicles-growing-colorado-campaign\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1st in the region and 5th in the country<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in EV market share for new vehicle sales.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent legislation like last year\u2019s SB22-193 funded $65 million to help school districts purchase electric school buses, putting Colorado <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.pirg-test.com\/colorado\/media-center\/colorado-makes-countrys-largest-capita-state-investment-electric-school-buses\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the map nationally<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a leader in electric school bus funding.
